I if is the "U" joint, replacement is probably needed. If another component (in the gear box, or bolster bearings, many parts are still available except the gears themselves. Some of the big gears can be turned over to utilize the other unused part. (they will be obviously larger than the smaller gears that cannot be flipped). Ujoints should not be welded (it makes them way more difficult to repair. Drilling a hole in a joint and shaft, reaming the hole for a hardened taper pin of about 3/16" diameter might fix the problem and allow repair. JimN
