yes because the brackets need to be positioned so the bar is behind the starter. you didnt say which lift assy you have does it have the two levers or just the one that lifts the cult. the early 134 cult mounted on the steering post and the rear was back by the seat and only had one lever. later 138 the lever assy mounted different and had two levers. you must have the one lever assy and betcha the two plates are backward good luck
