riggsjr, hope you get this post. I have had both, well, actually one Farmall 340 row crop and two 240 utilities-one w/power steering. You have heard to comments "bout TA and pto. Depending on age - yours, not Farmall"s - the 240 would be lower/easier to get seated on. A 240 utility would be an easier tractor, but not an option for you now. At the left of this web page, [maybe you have already done so, or have this info] look under the "Research & Info" listing and click on the "Production Nbrs" and/or "Serial Numbers" links to get info on these tractors. Sounds like these two are quite complete so you won"t have to hunt for parts. Remember to ask, unless you have, for any manual(s); top link(s); fast-hitch spacer bars; etc. that current owner may have laying around. I am sure you will enjoy either one. Hey, why not stimulate the economy and buy both! Don"t forget to share pictures of your tractor"S" with this forum as red iron folk like to see them! I am going to "pose" my recently acquired Farmall 340 and post a picture here but first, I have been waiting for snow - we finally got about five inches - as this will set the tractor off well. I also want good "sweet light" to flatter my subject. You see, I have an interest in photography, thanks to my dad and also the great photography project in 4-H.

Paint is another, the modern acrylic enamels are great for resistance to grease and fuel stains, retaining their shine and they last forever; unlike enamels and lacquers . Still another is the alternator. No doubt using the original generator keeps the tractor pure, but for thos
