Building one that is adjustable is the ticket. If yours worked, Build one with a small clevice in one end with a jamb nut to lock it to length when installed. Tubing is good because it is stiffer than solid rod per unit length/wt. Be sure the attachments on both ends are free from contact with all objects through the travel range. JimN
