brake disk clearance

Hello,
I've got the new actuators all cleaned up and assembled with new springs for my SWD9. I also have brand new pads for it. I set the brake castings up on the bench and laid the entire actuator and both brake pads in them. Question is, what is the ideal clearance to have between the brake pad and the back of the brake castings. It looks like I have about .100-.125 of an inch. I'm sure I'll lose much of the mechanical advantage of the actuators having it set up this way and it sure stretches my new springs quite a bit. I'm thinking about machining off the back of the brake casting. What is the right amount of clearance? I don't want them too tight so they don't release.
