Oil filters for 656 gas

I have an International 656 gas and I have a question about oil filters, I usually go to the dealer and get the oil filter for the 656. however i have been told that there are other filters like Fram that are just as good, also Im told that if the seal and threaded spindle match that filter can be used, I am interested in what other filters and make can be used, appreciate any help, thanks
