Another A Trans. Question

I picked up two sets of double seals for the right and left side of my 41 A from NAPA the other day. In each pair, not only are they different thicknesses, but the bevel of the rubber part of the seal faces a different way relative to the flat side of the metal part of the seal. Do I put them in flat sides out, flat sides in, flat sides together, or flat sides apart? Anybody ever use these seals?
