It is hard to determine rpm without a tach or dyno. You mnay have to adjust throttle linkage, on top of engine so you have full throttle movement. I tried severl different stronger springs on my SMTA before I settled on one. I don't think the spring really makes it run faster, just makes it hold the RPMs better. Chad S has had some great posts here and on pulling form on this. You might also want to change out distributor advance springs for lighter ones to get full advance quicker. With mine I wanted not so much increased RPMs but the ability to hold the top RPM. Chad has had some really good posts also about drilling the main jets.
