Leave that brass idle metering jet right where it is. The slots being broken off will not hurt a thing. Get one of those acetylene torch tip cleaning sets, the one with the various sized wires in it, and find the wire that will easily fit down through that jet. Do not alter the internal size of that jet. If that jet is any larger than it should be, you will have idling problems.
