You didn't miss anything except the mark. That is a very narrow mark easily hidden by dirt, grease etc. Put # 1 on TDC and clean the surface. I promise you it's there. You can prop yourself up underneath and move the flywheel /ring gear with a screwdriver. My C does not have the DC or whatever on it that someone may have mentioned, only a mark. Doubt if the SC does either. If it is not there keep rotating the flywheel, clean it off as you go, it WILL be there.
