Original specs called for non-detergent 30, 20, or 10 wt., depending on if you are using it in warm weather, cooler weather, or really cold. The belly pump will hold about 6 qts., but you may need more than 6 qts depending on the implement you are using. If there is not enough oil, the implement will not raise to the top. If you have too much oil, the excess will squirt out the vent hole in the fill cap. Other than making a mess, no harm will be done.
