The seal is pressed into the housing...you will have to take a punch or something to knock it out.

The origional seal on this thing is real thick...maybe 3/4 inch..being as tight as I am, I went to my local seal store and had them to cross the numbers and get me new seal. Be sure, when you take it out, to be careful not to destroy it so you can read the numbers on it. That replacement seal is very narrow compared to the one in there so, just to be on the safe side, I put two seals in it. Make sure you put the seal back into the housing pointing in the right direction...the lip points towards the oil. When you put it in, do not get aggressive with it, just gently tap it into place.
