I would check the magnetism in your magnets to make sure they are still strong. Pull the coil cover and touch them with a flatblade screwdriver.
Should attract that screwdriver with some effort.
This is what creates the spark when they pass by the coil. If you are installing new points, I would take a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and clean them. Your old points, if they're not pitted they may just need to cleaned with a piece of 320 grit wet or dry and use the alcohol on them too. Hal
