Den T here's some actual serial # examples.

As you can see the trend is engine # lower than tractor. Even though IH states there was no attempt to match numbers from 49 or 50 on up the last 3 digits seem to match on M tractors. Have worked on trying to determine what one number is by the other on those tractors but haven't collected enough numbers to determine a system thats 100% yet. Notice 2 1950 10000 apart, 0ne 1950 11000, 1951 12000 apart. Would appreciate any numbers from 49 model M up anyone would like to send me. Thanks Dave
