Shouldn't take more than taps with something like a wooden hammer handle to push the pistons into the sleeves. Did you use a ring compressor? Looks like you got lots of good advice on things to check, just make sure when you put them back they're not overly tight. Engine oil in the sleeves first is a good idea. While I had it apart, I'd change the rod & main bearings also, or at the very least the rod bearings. If you tighten up the top end, it'll put more stress on the bottom end & you'll likely be replacing bearings before too much longer anyway. Did you check bearing clearances with plastigage? Keith
