Maybe you have tried already, but adjust the float down 1/8 inch at a time & see if that improves the engine operation. I had to go 2 or 3 times on our SC to get it to quit blowing smoke. Warped aluminum or pot metal lower bowls on these carbs can be trued up again by using a belt sander. Leave sander off, & use hand pressure only to run the bowl on the sandpaper. Would work just as well with the sandpaper placed on a 2x8 I'd guess.
