repairing inner tubes..

I put the culitvators back on the A after replacing the rear tire. As I started to back up, a cotter key snagged the valve stem and broke it about mid-ways. I lost the core and the stem..everything. I still have about have the stem left though. Have any of you guys had any luck working on a tube with a damaged stem? Can I still use this tube? Is there a kit or something to repair this valve/stemtube or am I SOL?
