All could be well!!! If your battery is fully charged, the amp meter will stay in the middle. Check your voltage on the battery when wide open and lights off. If it is around 7 to 7.2 volts, you are in deed operational. It is fixed. If less than that (I would be suprized) and it needs the voltage adjusted a bit higher in the regulator. Replace the cover when checking the output voltage, because the cover changes the fields strength, and will change the setting made when it is open. If I had your regulator in hand I would tell you which tab or screw to adjust, there are too many types. A book on regulator adjustment is needed to assure success. JimN
