Retcol, Even though the powder coat seems to be the premium system, I have just found too many items that have serious and fatal rust occuring beneath the powder coating. My nephew is a paint chemist for PPG and has said that many manufacturers are having serious difficulty with the powder coat process...it has to do with the electrostatic process trapping + ions on the metal surface which chemically becomes an acid acting on the metal. The powder coating holds together quite well, but the base metal is totally destroyed and comes apart in sheets of rust. I would take my chances with the acrylic paint, and preferably with a good primer. Paul in MN
