I H 6cyl gas over diesel

Engine sat for 6 years. A lot of tinkering and engine runs good on gas. However switching over to diesel produces nothing. Not one puff of exhaust, not one cylinder fires. Opened all injector bleeders and all have fuel.
would spark plugs continuing to fire after switching to diesel interfer with running in diesel mode?
Alltho the cross shaft in the manifold turns could it be possible the problem is with the butterfly valves.
Or is it possible that setting for so long has caused the injector pump to malfunction and is not producing enough pressure to trip the injectors.
any help will really be appreciated.
