If it's got the factory setup on the generator it has an adjustable sheave too. Lot's of them have been changed with an automotive type adjustment, which is limited because of the hood. By the way, do not get the fan belt too tight. It is hard on the water pump bearings. 1/2 inch deflection pressing your thumb at the mid-span of the belt is right. It is a lot looser than you think it should be. If it does not run hot and the generator will work the belts are tight enough.
