Benefit of Firecrater Pistons?

Howdy, Boys. There is a guy here locally who wants to sell me an M with a recently rebuilt engine which is equipped with Firecrater pistons. Is that a good thing? What do these pistons do in the way of a horsepower boost for an M, all other things being equal? I have not seen this tractor yet, so I don't know if it has an "X1" suffix or not - therefore, it could have a distillate head or a gasoline head. It is about a 1950 model. Much obliged for any information. mike
