It seems to me the very early one's had a different front end on the PTO shaft, but it would still ahve been 1-1/8 as the 1-3/8 were a later development as hp increased.

By the way, you know when you face the PTO it turns the same way as when you face the front of the engine. Both turn clockwise. Why is that?

I always thought it was because PTO type equipment was first designed to be driven off the front of the engine of mobile equipment so the input was CCW. Therefore the tractor makers reversed the shaft out the back to match. Or is it just because the shaft out the back needed a gear reduction so it was convenient?
