Andy: I realize where they are coming from, I just tend to look at tractors a bit differently than most folks on these forums. In their heyday, these old tractors were only as good as the local dealer, yes that guy right in your hometown, made or destroyed any particular make. I had an excellent IH dealer in my day, have owned 16 different Farmalls, and can really only get excited on about half of them. I had a very average Deere dealer, early in my career. That changed, and I bought one Deere. I can only say good things about it. Had I stayed in farming there would have been a lot more Deere. I guess a lot more folks in my hometown must have been thinking same as I. Today there is a top notch Deere dealer and no CaseIH dealer. In fact the closest CaseIH dealer is 120 miles. Local Agco dealer sells IH parts to the diehards, but wont touch the dealership.
