During this era, the four major builders of full size construction type motor graders were; Adams, Allis Chalmers, Caterpillar, and Gallion. Their standard colors were; Adams/orange, Allis Chalmers/orange, Caterpillar/yellow, and Gallion/orange. Industrial yellow was not yet the standard industrial color. Most highway departments also used orange. On a related note, school busses were also mostly orange rather than yellow. The conversion motor graders could be any color, just depending on manufacturer. In repainting an old conversion type motor grader, paint it any color you like and you will not be wrong.
