Farmall Cub Radiator Problem

This morning I was running my cub when I noticed a lot of steam coming from the radiator area. I thought the radiator was plugged so I took it all apart. I discovered there isn't a tank on the bottom of the radiator. I talked to the radiator repair shop. The owner suggested I buy a new radiator right away. Is that really the solution? I did notice when I got the radiator off the overflow pipe is broke off. Could that be the problem that caused the steam? Do I need to use anything special to keep the gasket in place? Suggestions???
