I think they are high carbon steel, making them difficult to thread even when anealed. Tempering them and making them strong enough would be a task requiring furnaces and quenching oils and other technology. Much cheaper to buy. Try Motion Industries, or Fastenall for studs at reduced cost. Jimn

Tractor Traction - by Chris Pratt. Our first bout with traction problems came when cultivatin with our Massey-Harris Pony. Up till then, this tractor had been running a corn grinder and pulling a trailer. It had new unfilled rear tires and no wheel weights.
