If the coupling is misaligned the bolts will be under far more than normal stress. Loosen the pump from the mounts, then put the coupling together. and move the pump untill it seems centered (concentric) with the shaft. If it needs shims. or is pulled crooked by the mount holes, repair the mount, or use shims to get things aligned. Then try it. If the engine is severely loaded by the pump when operating, it is possible that the valving is wrong, or mis adjusted causing it to be closed centered when it is not designed to be, nor intended.
