Due to high thermal conductivity of metal pipe fittings, also turbulence in the coolant while the engine is running, you'll see little if any temperature gage error from adding the nipple. And should you find the gage DOES tend to read low with the nipple installed, simply wrap a bit of thermal insulation around the nipple and tee.
