That is not right, It should trip at about between 1 and 2 oclock. The best way to time a mag is to put motor on top dead center compression #1 trip the mag just past #1 on the cap go a wee bit farther with the motor and install then turn the motor over backwards about a half rev then back to timing mark turn mag out wards untill it trips and tighten.
