Sorry, on the lift rods the bottom piece which is cast has a nut in it which the adjusting screw on the top part of the lift rod threads in to, the thread in the nut wears and eventually the screw will pull out making the lift rod lengthen or pull completly apart giving the symptom you discribe. The last one I supplied retailed at about 8 Pounds (English) which is very dear for what it is. It is not uncommon and I always supplied probably 3 or 4 per year, the local dealer always had them in stock which means they must have been fast moving because they were not known to keep much ( "Be here tomorrow mate" for everything else!)
