carter carb for c farmall

have a demonstrator c that has a carter carb on it..with aluminum or magnesium bowl..when i took it apart i discovered that the jet in the bottom of the bowel leads directly to a port on the bottom of the bowel...this hole extends pretty far into the bowel..it looks like it should have a needle for a mixture adjustment but its smooth and doesnt look like the threads were stripped out..did this just have a plug in it or what..thanks for any replies or help
