Rakes are still in the field being used. At our past weekend show ( about 65 tractors) we had an AC All Crop 72 in operating condition and a JD 45 Self Propelled that looked like it would cut wheat. There were a couple semimounted mowers, a two row planter, cultivator, JD cornsheller and a bunch of plows. If shows cater to antique farm machinery instead of $3000 dollar paint jobs they catch a lot more interest for those of us looking for stuff in it's work clothes instead of a shiny show.
