I built a big M motor for antique pulling several years back. Our club ran stock RPM so it seems you can get by doing things that the experts say won"t work. I would say if you are going for cubic inches, I would go for a larger bore than 4 inches. M&W makes a 4 1/4 inch kit for their long stroke crank. I used Case 830 diesel pistons which are 4 3/8 and ran them in a 450 block without sleeves and didn"t strike water. If you want to run a stock M or 450 piston with a long stroke crank, you can cut the connecting rod close to the piston pin and remove a section of the rod and weld the rod back together. I have seen it done and it works. Give me a call 515 847 2731.
