Chuck, as I remember the rod that stuck out by the top link bolt was controlled by the draft control lever. If the draft control lever was set to heavy draft, all the way forward the rod did not stick out much and light draft it stuck out far enough to contact the top link mechanism. Apply some lubricant as suggested by Hugh and work the draft control lever back and forth. JB2
