Jon, I would pull the oil pan and look for any metal particles in the bottom of the pan. You may have a bearing that failed for some reason.
You could inspect the rod and main bearings while you have pan off. If there's nothing obvious in this area you may may need to pull the head. Sometimes you have a failure with an engine rebuild even with good machining, parts and assembly. Had a 327 Chevy engine to run run fine
for several months and and then had one heck of a noise. The reground crankshaft broke at the counter weight. The auto parts store did give me another shaft and bearings. Let us know what you find. Hal
