Ron, there appears to be some confusion here. The Behlen unit is installed on the steering shaft right up next to the steering support post and is not under the hood. The behlen unit is powered by a pump that is installed in front of the distributor, but is not big enough to be considered a "live" hydraulic pump. The Behlen unit can also be powered by a true "live" pump, but then the priority valve should already be there. The Char-Lynn unit mounts entirely under the hood, and in most cases is powered by a belt driven pump similar to what is on a car or truck. You may have some kind of a "hybrid" system.
