Until the Tractor Vet arrives I can tell ya it shouldnt make much difference as far as any vacuum or centrifugal advance curve if theres a set of mechanical points mounted to the distributor plate that rotates (to advance or retard the spark) versus a pickup coil that senses the passage of a magnet on the distributors center shaft, cuz the same mounting plate (if working) will still rotate and advance due to the centrifugal action of the weights n springs, it dont know whether a set of points or a pickup coil is mounted n rides on it. There may be some slight variation due to the different weight of the pickup coil versus points n condensor and the fact that the elec switch is faster n more positive, buttttttttttt if alls working the mounting plate should rotate (advance n retard) regardless cuz it dont know whats riding/mounted up top. SOOOOOOOOOO YESSSSSSS you should still see the timing advance n retard relative to RPM regardless if points or elec switch............. Will see if the Tractor Vet agrees???????? John T
