Jim,
Always keep the polarities the same! Reversing polarities can cause one of the batteries to explode, even with the connections made remotely from the battery. Connect 12v+ to 6v+ and 12v- to 6v-. As in the other post, make the connections away from the tractor battery to keep sparks away from the battery as they produce hydrogen gas when they are charging. We don't want your tractor to suffer the fate of the Hindenburg! Phil
