I assume you are talking about the wheel disk, not the rim. The '39 A originally had steel on both sides. Later on, IH put the heavy cast wheel on the right side to help counterbalance the engine. There was an improvement package available from IH to put the heavy wheel on the right side. The package also included the axle, thich is different between the cast and steel wheels. Look at the center of the outer ends of your axles. One should have a deeper center than the other. If not, the conversion was not completely done.
