The power steering is not original, in fact, power steering was not even offered as an option. Two different companies built the add-on units, Char-lynn is one, and Behlen is the second. The Char-lynn unit mounts completely under the hood, and uses a pump very similar to what is currently on your car or truck. The Behlen unit mounts on the steering shaft directly in front of the steering post, over the top of the gas tank, and uses a pump that is mounted in front of the ignition distributor. Type F auto transmission fluid would be a good choice in either unit. I would not use motor oil of any weight.
