I have not done it, but I know of someone who has -- the vinyl cut can be clearcoated, it tends to make them look painted on. One other disadvantage of the Mylar is that the "clear" area between the letters does not stay clear very long. A purist may not like vinyl because mylar came on the tractor. I use vinyl.
