Yep that is one way or if ya can find and want to do it pull it apart and have the shaft spray welded . we use to do this to big dozers way back whe Hector was a pup and he died 35 years ago . Yours is not the first that i have seen with a double roll pin thru it or a hard bolt . Not the best of fixes . As far as a new shaft don't know if ya can get one and i would bet the farm that the price would vapor loc ya .No mercy on the poor guy.
