FARMALL A PTO ON FARMALL 100

I have a Farmall 100 that I am trying to install a belly mower. I had a complete pto assembly from a Farmall A that I thought would work, but upon closer inspection found some differences. Mainly the drive shaft and shaft sleeve where it engages with the pto lever. I swapped these out so they would fit the 100 and used the Farmall A cases with the right angle gearbox. When I installed everything, it went together OK, but the pto engagement lever won't move. It seems to bind up whenever I push the case together the final 1/4" or so. Has anyone ever tryed this? It looks like it should work.
