JJK's right on about the cap; that should be a pressure system, and if it isn't building and keeping pressure it'll run hot. Try Allen's temp check first; if guage reading right examine cap carefully, 'cuz they can rust out enough to let pressure out and look perfect. Drop it a foot or so on concrete, upside down (the cap, not the concrete) to see if any rust flakes fall out. Also, look inside radiator when not running with strong light to see if tubes have coating of scale (excellent heat keeper) AND at night shine light thru fins to make sure not dirty/clogged enough to keep much air from being pulled thru by fan (you can suck in a lot of wasps and grasshoppers).
