I think you were misled by the salesman -- what he should have said is "single stage" or "one stage", as I originally thought, as opposed to two stage which is base-clear. I checked this on the Paint and Bodywork forum, you can read the responses if you like. Frank Stalfire is a DuPont rep, who understands the different kinds of paint. Rod(NH) has been painting for 20-30 years. I was hoping you had discovered something new. I believe you used PPG Omni MTK acrylic urethane -- same thing that Rod and I use, it is good paint.
