Just got my first tractor, a '42 H, in pretty bad shape. Bought from a nice old guy on this site, he said he thought it had a stuck valve. Helluva bang in the motor. Pulled the head and the pan, found a spun rod bearing on #3. As I am probably the poorest person here, I'm trying to buck the odds and just put a new rod and bearing on that cylinder to get her going again. Joe's Farmall Parts really helped me out and were quite a bit less than The Red Tractor place. Just praying that when I get it back together that knock is gone. Gonna cry if it's a main. I know, I know, everyone had told me I should pull the crank, have it measured and ground if need be, and the head magnafluxed, and all the things I wish I could afford. At this point I just want to get her running smoothly enough to sell and get an M. Saw pictures from the auction in Minnesota last week, never seen so many beautiful tractors in one place. If Ida won the lotto that day, I woulda bought the whole collection!
