Can you read and understand a manual and do you have the needed tools to do the job like a real good torque wrench and assorted hand tools and feeler gauges then it can be a DIY as it is not that hard to do if ya can read and understand a book . Now one thing that i would do is have the head checked for flatness at a good machine shop and while the head is off then have the valves done and head checked for cracks , ya may not like what ya find but that is all part of the game of playen with this old stuff .
