Electronic Ignition Woes

I have installed my new Pertonics electronic ignition on my Super C recently with no success.
It is a 12 volt negitive groung system, I am using a ballest resistor because the instructions said, if you have one, don't take it out. All else, I followed the instructions to a tee and am getting absolutely no spark. I checked for any loose connections, even ran a hot wire from the positive side of the battery to the hot side of the coil to see if it would spark, nothing, notta. What next?.....any suggestions appreciated.
