I also have a '43 with wheels of this type. My dad bought it new in September of 1943, and farmed with it on steel until the summer of '44. He then managed to find a couple of front wheels, one new, one used, and mounted a pair of worn-out car tires on the front. When WWII ended, he was able to get rear tires and rims. He said there was a man in Lebanon, IN, who was doing so much conversion of these that he actually made up a jig for holding the wheels and rims while cutting and welding. Did a good job, as there is only about 1/4" wobble in them!
